Sustainability
We are focused on improving our environmental performance and aim to continually improve on our sustainability performance. This is managed through a single integrated management system, certified to the latest ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 standards, at our Dockland Campus in North Wall Quay and our Currency Centre in Sandyford. We understand that our activities can have a lasting impact and are committed to managing our environmental responsibilities consistently and effectively.

Central Bank Operations Climate Action Roadmap
The Central Bank’s Strategy commits the Bank to being a sustainable organisation. As a public sector body, the Bank is also required to deliver under the Public Sector Climate Action Mandate as part of the Government’s Climate Action Plan. The Central Bank Climate Action Roadmap sets out how the Bank will aim to meet these commitments.
Low Carbon Pledge
We have signed up to Business in the Community Ireland’s Low Carbon Pledge and are committed to reducing Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emission intensity by 50% by 2030. We are also committed to being a net zero carbon emission's organisation by 2050.
First in Ireland for BREEAM ‘Excellent in Use’
Our Dockland Campus at North Wall Quay was the first in Ireland to achieve the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology (BREEAM) rating 'Excellent in Use'. This follows the building's 'Outstanding in Design' rating. BREEAM rated developments are more sustainable environments that enhance the well-being of the people who live and work in them, while protecting natural resources.
Sustainable Travel and Biodiversity
We encourage our staff and visitors to use sustainable transport, assisted by our visitor management system, which provides visitors with public transport options in emails confirming their visit details. We have a three-year biodiversity action plan, which has driven activities including replanting our rooftop garden.
