The Central Bank is reviewing the Consumer Protection Code to ensure it continues to protect consumers in a changing financial landscape.
In October of 2022, the Central Bank published a Discussion Paper on the Consumer Protection Code. Public engagement with this Paper has helped deepen our understanding of the consumer protection issues that the public want to see addressed.
As planned, we are now preparing to launch a formal public consultation on the revised Consumer Protection Code, bearing in mind feedback gleaned from the Discussion Paper.
The Consultation Paper will be launched by Deputy Governor Derville Rowland at an event in our North Wall Quay headquarters on Thursday 7 March, which will be attended by financial services industry representative bodies and civil society representatives, as well as state agencies.
At the event, we will provide a high level overview of the key proposals in the Consultation Paper, the artefacts that we are consulting on as well as information on the consultation process and what will happen next. All of the consultation materials and remarks from the event will be available from our website on launch day.
