Roundtable discussion with Irish financial sector stakeholders

As part of the Central Bank’s ongoing engagement with external stakeholders, on April 16, it held a Roundtable discussion with Irish financial sector stakeholders. Topics under discussion were key EU and domestic developments.

On key EU developments, the Central Bank set out how Brexit preparedness is a primary focus for 2018 as it actively inputs to both local and EU fora to progress work in the area. The Central Bank also introduced the topics of the European Supervisory Authorities (ESA) review, the Banking Union and Capital Markets Union, along with outlining the priorities of individual sectors.

On domestic developments, the Central Bank highlighted its focus on driving cultural change as key to delivering positive conduct outcomes.

There then followed an open discussion with industry bodies on the issues presented by the Bank, including the challenges arising from Brexit, MiFID II implementation, and views on key EU initiatives.
