ESMA publishes Final Report on MiFID II Guidelines on cross-selling practices

ESMA Guidelines and Recommendations

Date: 06 February 2016

On 22 December 2015, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) published the Final Report on guidelines on cross-selling practices.

The primary purpose of these guidelines is to establish a coherent and effective approach in the supervision of firms by competent authorities which will contribute to the enhancement of investor protection across Member States. The guidelines will therefore help to clarify the expected standard of conduct and organisational arrangements for those firms engaged in cross-selling practices in order to mitigate any associated investor detriment.  These Guidelines are currently due to come into effect on 3 January 2017 but their final effective date will correspond with the effective date of MiFID II.
